Oliver Johnson “Day Dreaming Again" ( Quinn Music 2005)
A horns n all dancer that if there was any justice would be sitting at the top of all jocks playlists, southern, YES, but what a tune, Johnson's voice is the real deal too, a trumpet player as well which he uses to fabulous effect. His album " Luv n Thing" (2006) is also one soulfull affair with great bursts of that trumpet, the ballad "Lied For The First Time" will be in a lot of top tens for the year. What a find, aint life great. Lafayette Harris Jnr “Darlin Darlin Baby" (LFJ 2006)
The O’Jays classic revamped into a brilliant new version for 2006/2007, this guy is a jazz pianist, but he's also one soulfull guy, taken from his album which also contains a superb head nodder in the title track "In The Middle Of The Night".I may be preaching to the already converted, but its new to me and I'm mightily impressed.
Theryl Houseman DeClouet "Love Makes The World Go Round (DCE CD 2007)He's turned one of the great 60's dancer's into a chugging two step masterpiece, base heavy, tinkling piano, subdued drums, and that hoarse voice making this tune his, occasional female backing, just adds to the brew. The album is also being touted for his version of "Risin To The Top", but its this geat stepper you will want it for. Absolutely the dogs bollocks and then some.
The Fabulous Caprices " My Love" Camarro 45)
This months vinyl tip.I'm typing this at work so can't remember the year, its about 74 ish, and its set to go the way Papa Bear And The Cubs has, very very similar in style but this is far more soulfull. I was scouring the shelves for tunes to play at the Wilton Alniter on July 6th and one play later it was in the box. I remember reviewing this in Mark Bicknells 'Soul Underground' magazine about ten years ago and I expected it to go then. You need this one now.

I'm also spinning EJ Johnson,Ruby Baker,Men of Essence,Dells off the album "Urban Music In The Movies",Mo & Grazz, Lonnie, Carl Joiner and loads of other little beauties.

It has been very difficult to select only 3 tracks as there seems to be a glut of quality soul around at the moment. Tracks from the E.J. Johnson, Soccorro, Onyx1 ft Terrence Forsythe, Allen O, Anita Easterling, Praz Bosanova to name but a few all featured strongly in my thoughts for the top three, however in the end I have picked the following:
Ruby Baker - Motions of Love from the Love Is Worth It All CD
What a stunning track from an absolutely stunning CD that has had a similar impact on me that Songstress did when I first played it. I can't stop playing this CD and
selecting the one track seems so unfair check out All My Love and Come to Me. Thanks go to Brian Goucher for tipping me on this one,
Dre T - Infatuated from the Tasty EP CD
Great ballad from a great singer - fabulous.
T.K. Soul - Love T.K Soul from the "Undisputed" CD
The Bad Boy of Southern Soul pours his heart out on this ballad that bemoans the fact that his women fall in love with T.K. Soul the soul singer and not Terry Kimble the
man. It even sneaks a little refrain from Teddy P's "Love TKO" - class.

Real soul going from strength to strength - if a Danish Lager Brewing company made soul it would definitely (not probably) be like this!!

Eddie Hubbard /Banbury Soul Club

Marvin Sims - Love is on the way / Blow away breeze (Rivertown)
First heard Love is on the way on a John Manship unknowns tape in the late 70's , after retrieving my copy from the collection I realised what a great 70's dancer this is , with a very memorable hook line. Flip side is also great in a deeper vein, a dreamy slowie with Marvin able to express his full vocal range.
The Fourth Creation - I think I would cry / Why is there no trace of you (Daren)
A wonderful 70's dancer on this Chicago indie , flipped with a stunning sweet soul ballad .
Jimmie Delphs - Do you know what I mean [ DSSI ]
Jimmy is of course remembered for his 60's Detroit dancers for the Carla logo Almost , I've been fooled before ,Dancing a hole in the world etc. With a slight change in the spelling of his name , he turns in a brilliant performamce on this down tempo side from 1978 .

Phil Perry - The World Is A Ghetto (Shanachie) cd album
A fantastic cover version from Mr Perry of an already great song - and the production is spot on - massive on the dancefloor.
Tricia Angus - Living My Life -The Realm Remix (Papa) 12"
Top tune remixed to perfection, with the so so soulful vocals of Tricia Angus sounding awesome.
Fabio Nobile feat Tania Michelle - Didn't You Know (Deja Vu) 12"
Tune ALERT - number three in the series from Fabio Nobile and the best one yet, if you liked the first two then say no more - an absolute Summer ANTHEM no problem.

Brian Alexander “Don’t want to sleep alone tonight” (2 note)
Fabulous dancer from around 1998.Don’t know anything about the artist,But he can certainly sing well. Put this on a tape a for Mick awhile ago and it knocked Him out.
Lance Ellis “Taking a chance” (Landlord)
Again a superb dancer from the mid 90’s taken off a mainly sax led instrumental album, this vocal track is the business .So many of these fusion lps had a hidden Vocal on them, worth tracking down.
Michael Ross “We finally meet” (Miki)
This track from 1992 is again a mainly instrumental album. The last track on the cd is fantastic midtempo winner.Justlove this mellow sound and the sax takes it to anther level. Track of this quality make us realise why we adore this type of music.
Vinyl Choice 90s
Marvin Gaye “My last chance” (Motown)
This is the harder to find promo 12’ which is extended from the 7’ version, one of Marvin’s best ever tracks
